Wheat, weight gain & inflammation

Bloating, inflammation, aches, pains and an unpredictable gut, that was me years ago. I was truly indulging in foods that were slowly killing me and keeping unwanted pounds on.

This past weekend I visited dear friends and colleagues on their 70 acre horse farm in Virginia. Our host decided to cook all gluten-free so I could enjoy her cooking as well as the other guests. What a learning experience that was for her. She was shocked at how good the food was, all the recipes were delicious, easy and full of protein.  Everyone loved the meals she cooked.

Wheat is not the healthy grain our ancestors enjoyed.  In  William Davis, MD’s book Wheat Belly he states,that wheat has been genetically altered to provide processed-food manufacturers the greatest yield at the lowest cost. That means the wheat is nutritionally bankrupt and will cause blood sugar to spike more rapidly than eating pure table sugar and has addictive properties that cause us to ride a roller coaster of hunger, overeating and fatigue.

I love having protein, vegetables and or fruit with each meal. I am full for  4 hours (which is amazing since I have low blood sugar) My protein is either an organic source of meat or Shaklee CINCH protein meal replacement.

I am calling out to you. The person who craves breads and sugar products. Whose blood sugar rises and falls fast. Suspicious how gluten and wheat are hurting you?

Last night was the unveiling of my new presentation, “Living gluten and wheat free – First steps”.

When I first accepted how gluten & wheat was devastating my system I looked for guidance on where to start. I had aligned myself with a nurse practitioner who believed in helping the body heal itself through good nutrition, supplements, and clean air. She was very helpful designing a supplement program for me to heal my gut, build my immune system and clear up my skin.  With positive changes occurring as I got off the gluten and wheat, using the program she had me on my moods and energy also  improved dramatically. 

Those are all areas I touch on in the presentation. I love being a resource and guide for people as they are maneuvering through the gluten-free world. 

As I was writing the presentation I stumbled on information I did not know.  Like, in people with first-degree symptoms who are celiac(parent,child,sibling) 1 in 56.

In people with second-degree relatives(aunt,uncle,cousin)who are celiac: 1 in 39.

Celiac disease affects at least 3 million Americans. *The University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center.

A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed:

39% increased risk of death in those with Celiac Disease

72% increased risk in those with gut inflammation related to gluten.

35% increased risk in those with gluten sensitivity but no Celiac Disease.

I am hoping that other people will learn new facts about how Celiac and gluten sensitivity affects large numbers of people, the seriousness of the issue and the simple cure, get off gluten and wheat, start healing your body, and get support.

What a wonderful opportunity to be a guest on “Straight Talk Live with Tonja Walker.”  It is an online radio show.  The more .I can be a resource to people suffering with IBS, reflux, diarrhea, constipation, ADD/ADHD, weight gain, weight loss, headaches, depression the list goes on, the sooner those people may get relief like I did.

Gluten-free conference call today

This is the first Gluten-free conference call I will be hosting. I am going to do this once a month and see if it is helpful for people like me or newbees.  I have held local Gluten-free dinners for one year locally. Those attending, including myself have learned new tips and enjoyed being with other people who “get it”.  We have talked about weight loss, weight gain, stomach problems, dry skin, all sorts of issues that come from being misdiagnosed or just not wanting to admit the gluten was slowly killing us. 

I have many customers who live all over the country who have missed out  on our Gluten-free dinners and are excited to meet via the phone.

I am a nervous about the call tonight since it is the first.  I am not an expert, just a woman living gluten-free for 5 years and love bringing people together.  If a gym owner had not introduced me to a healthier way of eating,  the high quality brand of  food supplements, non-toxic cleaners, skin care, all products that go in, on and around me, I would not be as healthy as I am today or in the position of enjoying being a resource to others.
